The content around this particular promise is everywhere right now and it is doing real damage to real people who follow it seriously.

Here’s what gets left out. Learning to code in 30 days produces someone who knows the basics of coding. Building software that doesn’t break, that handles real user data, that scales past your first ten customers — that’s a different thing entirely. The pipeline from “I just learned Python” to “I have a functioning product people pay for” is not 30 days. It’s not even close.

What nobody making that content wants to say out loud is that the coding is not actually the hard part. The hard part is finding a problem worth solving. A real one. That real people have consistently. That they’re already spending money or time trying to solve badly. Most people who go down the “learn to code, build a SaaS” path spend six months on the technical side and approximately zero time validating whether anyone wants what they’re building.

You can build something technically impressive that nobody pays for. It happens constantly.

💼 THE DROP

Meanwhile three legacy media companies filed for restructuring in the last six months. A magazine that’s been publishing since 1953 just went digital only. Cable news viewership among adults under 45 is essentially a rounding error at this point.

The attention economy didn’t shift. It relocated. And it relocated to individual creators — people running channels from spare bedrooms and converted closets — who figured out how to hold an audience without a network deal, a distribution budget, or anyone’s permission.

What most people still don’t fully understand is how much of that content has no face attached to it. No personality. No on-camera presence. Just information, delivered clearly, over visuals, with a voice that may or may not belong to a real person sitting in front of a microphone. For the first six months — sometimes longer — you are essentially publishing into a void. No views. No subscribers. No revenue. Just you, uploading consistently, hoping the machine notices.

Let me translate the legalese for you: If you’re a federal contractor who dares to mentor a Black employee, promote a Latino manager, or—God forbid—attend a career fair at an HBCU, you now face contract termination, debarment, and treble damages under the False Claims Act. Yes, treble. That’s lawyer-speak for “we’re taking triple your money because you helped the wrong people.”

The order specifically targets “racially discriminatory DEI activities”—defined as “disparate treatment based on race or ethnicity in recruitment, employment, contracting, program participation, or allocation of resources.” Notice what’s missing? Gender. Sex. Disability. Age. Just race and ethnicity. It’s almost impressive how surgically they carved us out.

Julia Judish, a lawyer who clearly has to ask questions she already knows the answers to, posed this gem to the press: “Does this mean that, if a government contractor participates in a career fair at a historically Black college or university, is that viewed as a racially discriminatory allocation or deployment of their resources?”

Yes, Julia. Yes, it does.

But here’s the thing they don’t understand about us. We’ve been building without permission since 1619. This isn’t new. This is Tuesday.

The Orange Curtain Has Fallen. Walk Around It.

Let’s be honest about what just happened. The federal government—the largest purchaser of goods and services on planet Earth, spending $700 billion annually—just told 13% of its contracting pool (that’s us, the Black contractors who finally got a seat at the table) that we’re no longer welcome to eat. They didn’t say it outright. They never do. They just made it radioactive to hire us, promote us, or even acknowledge we exist.

The 300,000 Black women who left the workforce in three months last year? That was the warning shot. This is the siege.

But here’s what they forgot: We built the table. We can build another one.

The Unfuckable Pivot: Five Moves to Make While They’re Still Celebrating

1. Exit the Contracting Casino

This Wasn’t Politics. This Was Theater.

At some point, the line between leadership and performance disappeared.

Press conferences started sounding like open mic nights.

Policy started sounding like improv.

And headlines started reading like satire you didn’t have to make up.

You could wake up, check the news, and genuinely wonder:

Is this real… or is someone trolling the entire country?

But here’s the part nobody really says out loud:

While everybody was distracted, laughing, arguing, reposting, and reacting… life kept getting more expensive.

The real game has been happening offstage for a while.

While the Dooleys and the wankers were distracted by their king, us intellects were paying attention to this:

• Rent is climbing.

• Food prices are climbing.

• Jobs kept disappearing (UPS debacle).

• Entire industries are quietly changing direction.

• New ways to make money are hidden because most “gurus” are all regurgitating the same information — just with different packaging.

See, me personally? I don’t follow trends. I don’t follow anybody — which is probably why I don’t have many friends (that’s a different story).

I research trends.

I want to know what’s going to be viable, profitable, and sustainable in 4 to 5 years. That’s what I want to know — not only for myself, but for the couple friends I do have and for my kids.

That’s why I have this.

So when I say escaping, I’m not just talking about the era — I want you to escape listening to the bullshit.

Most people? They were too busy watching the show to notice the shift.
